Polyurethane components are used to bond cracked, broken, and incompetent strata and to control water. Two uniquely formulated liquid components are mixed and are injected under pressure into the rock strata, through drill holes, using specially developed equipment. After being mixed, the system will remain fluid for about one minute, then react rapidly into a solid. The trouble strata regains load-bearing competence.
Based on field studies performed by the former Pittsburgh Research Center of the Bureau of Mines the polyurethane grouting technique caused minimal disturbance to natural conditions.
Pipeline projects – Oil & Gas Ohio
• Uses the MICON RokLok® polyurethane grouting system.
• The cured product has high mechanical strength adhering to the walls of the cracks, bonding broken strata together and resisting any further imposed stresses.
Surface streams affected by longwall mining Pa and WV
•Uses the MICON RokLok® polyurethane grouting system.
•The cured product has high mechanical strength adhering to the walls of the cracks, bonding broken strata together and resisting any further imposed stresses.
•Offers a permanent solution to stream flow loss.
•Has a refined stream sealing technique that is considered the ONLY permanent solution available.
•Reduces surface & ground water infiltration into underground workings.
